Today, we had the students start their last project. They will be designing and creating a pierced pendant. The handout is attached that describes the project. Ms. Burns showed a quick YouTube video on positive and negative space and then showed professional examples of jewelry using the pierced design technique. (We had collected various visual examples, since it really helps the students understand what you are asking them to tackle).
After the lecture the students had to use this handout to collect 8 visual examples of professional jewelry using the pierced technique. They needed to write about 4 out of the 8 examples. This research is to get them to plan and understand their inspiration, Design Elements and Principles, and their intention. It will help them with their own work.
The next step will for them to draw a few designs they wish to create. We will start this later this week.
