The students started their Shrine jewelry project. In a previous post, the project instructions outlined the intent, the process, and various techniques to be utilized. Images were shared of shrine jewelry created by professionals I feel it is so important to show students visuals. Expectations, clear communication about materials, and creativity can be discussed. Most of the time, students are inspired and do not copy other’s work. And, in the rare occasion of a student wanting to copy work, copyright issues can be introduced.
To help students craft a concrete concept enshrining someone or something, Ms. Burns gave them a reflective analysis sheet. This is the handout for the initial reflective analysis. It is designed to help the students understand how they might build a concept through the process of critical thinking. As they answer the questions the concept takes shape.
