Ms. Burns is requiring the students to complete a minimum of four dichroic glass pendants. Two glass pendants must have a wire wrapped cage. The other two are to use a pre-fabricated bail glued to the back of the pendant. After completing the bails the students then need to design the hanging device. It can be of hemp, leather, metal, beads, or a combination.
When choosing a pre-fabricated bail students must decide what type of metal finish will look best with their project. It can be sterling-like, antique brass, antique cooper, or chrome. Some are textured, others are smooth. Additionally the scale of the bail is important. Choosing a bail that is too large or small will be detrimental to the overall design of the piece.
When adhering the bail, Ms. Burns advised the students to use E6000 for this task. She demonstrates how to glue the bail to the pendant. Students must make sure the back of the pendant is clean first.
